My Story

Hey! I’m Kirby Spencer. A 30-year-old writer and photographer.

In case you couldn’t tell from all my photos, I love the ocean. I grew up and live by the stunning WA coastline, which means tranquil waters will always mean home to me.

I’m a big fan of dogs and adopted my first - a rescue greyhound - in my late twenties. He is clumsy, likes to sleep 20 hours a day, and goes nuts for whipped cream… he’s basically my spirit animal.

When it comes to my skills, I’m a right-brain, creative thinker. That means I can draw, photograph, and play with words like a pro. Just don’t ask me to do math - I WILL cry.

Honestly, what I truly love is telling stories.

And I’m here to help others tell theirs.

Why work with me?

I’ve spent almost a decade in creative industries; including as a journalist, social media manager, content creator, graphic designer, marketing co-ordinator, and photographer.

I forked out on both a Bachelor’s and a Masters degree to back it up. And since then I’ve worked for a range of media organisations across the world.

I believe life is about challenging yourself. And I credit all the companies I’ve worked with for teaching me how to get out of my comfort zone.

What makes me so special?

Look… am I the best artist, photographer, or writer you’ll ever find? No.

What I do pride myself on though is being honest enough to know my limitations and good enough at what I can do to compensate for them.

Photography and writing are all about one thing. Telling a story.

My success, and the success you will see working with me, comes from how well I understand this.
